WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) - Workers at the Better Business Bureau say they are getting more complaints about a local man who promises to do home improvements, but never returns to do the job.
13 On Your Side first warned you about Jason Cooper in March, when the bureau first began receiving complaints.
The latest complaints came from Sally George. George wanted her yard fenced in to protect her grandchildren and her renter's children at her duplex in Wyoming. Back in June, George met a man named Jason Cooper. He said he was with AJK Home Improvement and offered to install a fence. He also talked her into a new roof and doors. Over the past three months, George has given Cooper $3,000. So far, none of the work has been done.
"I don't know how people can do that to other people," said George. "I really don't understand that."
Sally's daughter called the BBB and they said they had 12 complaints against him. His website was down and was his phone.
13 On Your Side did a similar story back in March. The homeowner accused Jason Cooper of doing shoddy work and not finishing the job. At the time, we went to Cooper's address, but neighbors told us he had just moved out. We also tried his business number and got no response.
Since then, the Better Business Bureau says six more people have been victimized. The BBB recommends that people check with them before hiring a contractor. In this case, the homeowner would have been warned.
