126th Cavalry Squadron to arrive home this weekend

LANSING, Mich. (WZZM) - More than 100 Michigan Army National Guard soldiers from the Wyoming-based 126th Cavalry Squadron will return home this weekend following a 12-month tour of duty in Afghanistan.

The soldiers are scheduled to arrive on Saturday at the Gerald R. Ford Airport in Grand Rapids in two separate mid-morning flights. They will then travel by bus to their respective armory cities for community homecoming ceremonies that both begin at 1 p.m.

The B Troop ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Manistee Armory, 555 1st Street, Manistee.

The C Troop ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 22 at Dowagiac High School, 701 West Prairie Ronde Street.

Though the unit is headquartered in Wyoming, it has Troop commands located in Cadillac, Manistee and Dowagiac.

More than 1,700 Michigan National Guard Soldiers and Airmen are deployed across the globe.
