Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Jamey Carroll's RBI single in the top of the
10th inning helped the Minnesota Twins take a 2-1 win over the Detroit Tigers
in the rubber match of a three-game set.
Pinch-hitter Denard Span began the frame with a pinch-hit single to right
field off Jose Valverde (3-4). Span moved to second when Ben Revere grounded
out and scored on Carroll's single to center field.
Glen Perkins worked a 1-2-3 bottom half and notched his 14th save of the
season for Minnesota, which swept the doubleheader after registering a 10-4
victory over Detroit earlier Sunday.
Jared Burton (2-1) tossed a scoreless ninth to pick up the win.
Miguel Cabrera recorded an RBI double for Detroit, which fell a game behind
the Chicago White Sox for first place in the AL Central.
The Twins won the first game of the doubleheader, 10-4.
