GRAND RAPIDS, MI - From a humble bar coaster - to community contests via social media... the exhibition looks at life through beer-colored glasses. What can we thank beer for?
Refrigeration, bubbles, and antibiotics are just the beginning! The Grand Rapids Public Museum will celebrate the history, science and language of brewing and beer starting October 13, 2012. The exhibition is being guest curated by beer expert Steve Smith, Chief Beer Geek at Hopcat, in conjunction with the local brewing community. The 1,500 sq ft exhibition will be located on two floors of the Museum and will focus on the ingredients
and chemistry of brewing, the cultural contributions of beer, the failure of prohibition, the current craft brewing revolution, and more. Artifacts will be drawn from the Museum's historical collections, West Michigan mega-collectors, and from the region's many micro-breweries, and will include bottles, cans, lithographs, photos, equipment, ad videos, maps of West Michigan brewery locations, and other amazing relics of brewing past and present.
