GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- This election you'll see six different proposals on the ballot, five of them change the constitution. We spoke with Keith St. Clair, a Political Science Professor at Grand Rapids Community College to see what they are about.

He breaks down all six of the proposals one by one. Click on the video above to see the interviews.

Proposal one: Allows for the state to step in and take over for a local government when they're in a financial crisis.

Proposal two:  Grants public and private employees the constitutional right to organize and bargain.

St. Clair says, "Putting it in the constitution ensures no law--similar to what happened in Wisconsin-- could take that away."

Proposal three: Requires utility companies to get twenty-five percent of their energy from renewable resources like solar, wind, and hydropower by 2025, and utility companies couldn't charge more than a 1% increase per year.

Proposal four: Allows in-home care workers to bargain collectively with Michigan Quality Home Care Council.

Proposal five: Requires a majority of the State House or State Senate to pass a tax increase, or for the majority of voters to pass one.

Proposal six: Requires the approval of a majority of voters at a statewide election and in a municipal area where new bridges and tunnels would be located to be voted on by the people.

St. Clair weighs in on all of these proposals in the video link to help you make an educated decision.
