Car strikes pedestrian in Holland, teen seriously hurt

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - A Holland teenager was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon after Ottawa County Sheriff's deputies say he walked into the path of an on-coming vehicle.

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. at 136th Avenue & James Street. Authorities say Carlos Quintana, 18, attempted to cross 136th Avenue outside of a crosswalk. He stepped in front of a vehicle driven by James Arbuthnot, 33, of Holland Township.

Quintana was struck and thrown into the air. An ambulance transported him to Holland Hospital in serious, but stable condition. The driver, James Arbuthnot was not hurt.
