GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) -- A homeless man in West Michigan is being treated for burns after being set on fire.
Courtney Lister tells MLive.com for a story Friday that he suspects someone sprayed him Aug. 30 with lighter fluid and then set his legs ablaze.
The 48-year-old unemployed handyman says he fell asleep and woke up to find his "lap ... on fire." He tried to put out the flames and doesn't know how he got to the hospital.
Lister suffered third-degree burns and has spent a month in a local hospital. Nine skin grafts have been performed and doctors worry about infections.
No arrests have been made.
Lister says a few nights before he was set on fire he woke to find a group of teens trying to steal his backpack.
