Video: Art Prize Winner

Elephants by Adonna Khare

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)-If you won $200,000, what would you do with it?

If you're this year's ArtPrize winner, you buy a new mattress. That's the only thing Adonna Khare has decided on so far.

Khare, who is from California, spent 18 months creating her ArtPrize piece, "Elephants". Friday night, the 35 foot by 8 foot entry took the top prize-- $200,000.

"Yesterday still feels like a dream. I was shocked with that kind of deer in the headlights feeling of is this really happening or is it not? And the whole evening went by so quickly," Khare said Saturday. "What I really wanted to say was just a big thank you, which is from the bottom of my heart."

"Elephants" will remain on display at the Grand Rapids Art Museum as part of the ArtPrize collection. ArtPrize runs through Sunday.
