GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Three local fire departments honored those who have "answered the last alarm".
Wyoming, Walker, and Alpine Township Fire Departments led a silent parade through the streets of Walker and Comstock Park last night.
The only sounds heard were the names of firefighters who recently passed away as well as a bell, signifying the final alarm.
The Silent Night Memorial Service started in Chicago. Grand Rapids Fire Department adopted the tradion in 2002.
