GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - A Grand Rapids athlete is giving new meaning to the term "cross-country run".
Chris Nicholas hopes to become the first American to run from one side of the country to the other for the second time in a year. He'll start his trek in Portland, Maine on Sunday. He plans to run 6,000 miles in seven months. Nicholas hopes to finish his run by late April.
Proceeds from his run will go to the Wounded Warrior Project, Make-a-Wish Foundation and St. Jude Children's Hospital.
