KENT COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM) - Earlier this week meteorologist Alana Nehring had an opportunity to train with the largest search and rescue team in the state of Michigan. She trained with them before going off into the woods.
She needed to find her way out of the woods using only a compass and a map, after she made it back to the studio one of the instructors critiqued her efforts.
The search and rescue team is offering a land navigation and orienteering course next Saturday from eight to four. The course is a three hour lecture followed by four hours of field training.
