DETROIT (AP) -- Ex-Detroit police Chief Ralph Godbee says he's sorry for setting a bad example through his sexual relationship with a subordinate that forced his resignation.

Godbee tells WDIV-TV that he's "very contrite" about the scandal over his affair with married internal affairs officer Angelica Robinson.

Robinson posted a photo on Twitter of herself with a police gun in her mouth.

The station's broadcast interview Monday was Godbee's first public comment since quitting Oct. 8.

The 44-year-old married ex-chief says he's "not proud" of his actions and takes "full responsibility" for them. He says he let down the people who "put a lot of hope" in him.

Godbee replaced Warren Evans, who was fired two years ago over an affair with a female officer who also reportedly was involved with Godbee.
