BUSHNELL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - The Montcalm County Sheriff's Department says a person's body was found in a barn fire Tuesday morning.
Deputies were called to the barn fire on M-66 south of Sheridan at about 2:30 Tuesday morning. The Sheridan Fire Chief reported to the Sheriff's Department that they had located a body in the building. Detectives and the Michigan Fire Marshall are now on scene investigating.
State Senator Judy Emmons confirmed to WZZM 13 that the barn is owned by her parents. Senator Emmons says the victim is not related to her family. She says the barn is a total loss but fortunately, there was no equipment inside when it caught on fire.
The victim's body is being sent to Michigan State University for identification.
