Sgt. Robert Billings injured by enemy bomb

MORLEY, Mich. (WZZM)- A soldier from Mecosta County has died in Afghanistan.

A bomb hit Sgt. Robert Billings' unit; he died from his injuries October 13.

The superintendent of Morley Stanwood Community Schools says Billings, 30, graduated from the district in 2001. He joined the Army five years later.

Billings most recently lived in Clarksville, Virginia. He was deployed to Iraq from September 2009 to August 2010. This was his second deployment, which started in December 2011.
