DETROIT (WZZM) -- The Detroit Tigers are going back to the World Series for the first time since 2006.
The Tigers finished up a sweep of the New York Yankees Thursday, winning game four of the American League Championship Series, 8-1.
Jhonny Peralta hit two home runs in the game, with solo dingers from Miguel Cabrera and Austin Jackson. Starting pitcher Max Scherzer struck out ten Yankees.
The Tigers got 16 hits in game four, a franchise postseason record.
It will be Detroit's 11th appearance in the Fall Classic. They will face either the San Francisco Giants or the St. Louis Cardinals.
We've got a poll going on at the WZZM 13 Facebook page. Who would you rather see the Tigers play in the World Series?
WZZM 13's Brent Ashcroft is at Comerica Park. He will have more from the Tigers on their pennant winning performance on WZZM 13 News at 11.
