BENTON HARBOR, Mich (WZZM) -- A Jenison man is dead after a 5,400 pound water tank crushed him while working at a golf course in Benton Township.
It happened just before 2:30pm on Thursday at the Point O Woods Golf Course. Benton Harbor Police say a work crew had been placing a 20,000 gallon, 5,400 pound water tank in the ground when the wall of the well collapsed. The dirt shifted, causing the giant tank to tilt, pinning the man inside of the well.
Police say the Jenison man was an employee of Total Fire Protection in Grand Rapids.
