GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- Thousands of elementary school-aged children will be voting for the next president of the United States.
The Every Kid Votes program is a nationwide campaign hoping to get kids involved in the political process. The event is sponsored by Studies Weekly and students will even receive "I Voted" stickers upon participation.
Studies Weekly president, Ed Rickers says children who "vote" early on in school, are more likely to particpate in voting as adults.
Over 6 million students voted in the 2008 event, which correctly predicted the election's outcome.
This year's program starts October 23rd, and includes a week-long absentee voting period. On October 30th, the public will be able to watch real-time results as they are tallied on the Studies Weekly website.
