GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Friday, the Gerald R. Ford Foundation announced a multi-million dollar campaign designed to renovate and create greater access to the Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
Steve Ford, the son of President Ford, along with Hank Meijer of the Meijer Corporation, announced a $15 million capital campaign at the museum in front of a crowd of city, business, and community leaders.
The campaign will fund a 10,500-square-food student learning center at the museum located in Grand Rapids and create interactive exhibits using the latest technologies.
President Ford would have celebrated his 100th birthday on July 14, 2013. Steve Ford, said the family is very excited to have the enhancements held in conjunction with the centennial celebration of President Ford's birth.
To honor the milestone, the Ford Presidential Foundation is planning a fundraising campaign and a series of special events. More specifics regarding the expansion, exhibit renovations and digital access to historical documents will be announced in coming months.
