The suspicious package
Suspicious package found at GRCC.
UPDATE 8:15 am: The suspicious package found near GRCC turned out to be construction equipment, and was not a threat. Police are re-opening the streets and allowing people back into the area.
GRCC classes will begin again starting at 11:30 am.
The suspicious item was a number of cylinders that are to be used to measure seismic activity for an upcoming construction project.
Police tell WZZM 13 that a security guard from Spectrum Health found the package overnight and thought it looked suspicious. Even bomb squad members when they arrived, thought the items looked suspicious.
Apparently the company that dropped the equipment off did not warn either GRCC or Spectrum Health that it would be on Ransom Street, therefore guards did not know what to think of the items.
