GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Habitat for Humanity honored a Marine today at his future home in Grand Rapids.
The non-profit group says many veterans don't qualify for conventional mortgages and its program gives them another option. Michael Palmer and his wife Leanne found out they qualified during a recent visit to the hospital.
The Palmers aren't just given a house. They have to go through financial training classes, help with the construction, and pay a mortgage.
Michael, Leanne, and Baby Kayson will move in on January 4th.
