GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- A former Cedar Springs teacher is facing prison time for his sexual relationship with a student.
A Kent County jury Friday found 45-year-old Jon Jungkind guilty of one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. The jury acquitted Jungkind on a second count.
Jungkind had sex with a 17-year-old student from Cedar Springs High School, where he taught science. He was arrested last year after the girl told a friend about the relationship. The friend then reported the relationship to school administrators.
Judgkind will return to court on December 17 for sentencing.
