WASHINGTON (WZZM) - Residents from 20 states, including Michigan, have filed petitions to secede from the U.S. after the re-election of President Barack Obama a week ago.
Louisiana was first to file, followed by Texas. States with secession-related petitions on the White House website include Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina and Tennessee.

It is extremely unlikely that any state would be granted secession.
