Hunters will be allowed to go after deer in 2012 at the North Ottawa Dunes County Park.

FERRYSBURG, Mich. (WZZM) -- Hunters will be allowed to go after deer this year at the North Ottawa Dunes County Park.

The special hunt was approved by the Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Commission earlier this year. It will take place November 17-18.

Seventeen hunters were selected from a pool of 200 applicants.

People taking part in the North Ottawa Dunes hunt must stay 450 feet from homes, follow DNR rules, and must take a doe as their first kill. Also, each hunter is allowed only to hunt in his or her designated section of the park.

A second two-day hunt will also happen on December 8-9 during the muzzleloader season.
