The teacher I would like to nominate is Courtney Schaub-Olsen from White Lake Area Community Education. She is new to our alternative education program this year and has implemented some great new teaching tactics to get through to our consistently unmotivated teenage students. Her biggest success so far began with starting the "Oreo Club", in conjunction with our reading specialist, to get students who don't normally read for pleasure (because they struggle with reading or can't read above an elementary level) an opportunity to TRY during the school day. We now have an ever growing library of donated books, some of them even from the students, to continue her program and it's success. She is great at building strong teacher/student relationships and using their strengths to build up their weaknesses. Her students would tell you the same great things about her and her teaching methods.
