CASNOVIA, Mich. (WZZM)- A group of Kent County farmers spent Friday out in the fields, in memory of their friend's son, who was recently killed in a car crash.
"[I am] very, very emotional. It means a lot," says Kreigh Freeland.
In October, Freeland lost his 22-year-old son, Kelby, in a crash along M-20 near Peach Ridge. Kelby lost control of his vehicle and it hit a tree. He was the oldest of three boys and often helped his dad on the farm.
"He was a big teddy bear, 6' 5", very protective. I love him with all my heart," says Freeland.
Manning the combines and grain trucks, fellow farmers insisted on doing Saturday's work in honor of Kelby.
"[It's] just tremendous. [It's a] tremendous feeling that they would all take the time, their efforts, money, gas and fuel to come out and help," says Freeland.
