GRAND RAPIDS, Mi (WZZM)- It was a weekend filled with flips and turns as over 1,000 gymnasts converged on downtown Grand Rapids.
The 3rd "Gymastics on the Grand" was held at DeVos place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. 1,600 girls and boys from all over the Midwest competed in events ranging from the balance beam and vault, to the floor and the uneven bars.
The gymnasts also got to mingle with two former Olympians. Alicia Sacramone and John Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger says he enjoyed Grand Rapids. "I go to a lot of gymnastics competitions around the country and this is honestly, one of the best I've been to. It's an amazing venue and I've met some amazing athletes over the weekend." Roethlisberger is now retired from competitive gymnastics, but now co-owns a gymnastics camp in Tennessee, called FlipFest.
The meet was hosted by Grand Rapids Gymnastics Club located in Cascade Township.
