KENTWOOD, Mich. (WZZM) -  The world's largest maker of dental floss, Ranir, employs 550 people here.

You probably have never heard of the company -- and that's the way they want it.

Ranir produces private label, or store brand, oral care products for the largest retailers all over the world.  It's one of the world's largest makers of toothbrushes and also produces teeth-whitening products.

It was formed in 1979 by a Grand Rapids dentist, but is now owned by a private equity company.  Christine Henisee, the CEO, says Ranir has enjoyed tremendous revenue growth over the past decade.

"North America is well established for tooth brushing but a lot of the world isn't so we have global expansion on our list of growth opportunities as well as new categories within oral care and around personal care" Henisee says.
