MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) - The two off-duty Muskegon Co. Sheriff Deputies and the manager of a towing company who rescued a driver in November will receive letters of commendation from Muskegon County Sheriff Dean Roesler.

Deputies Todd Dunham and Brian Harris along with Matt Alford were having diner at Fricano's Pizza on November 26th. The men ran from the restaurant after they saw the driver of this van go off a seawall and partly into Muskegon Lake. The driver told the men he accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.

The water reached the man's chest, but he was not seriously hurt.

The men were actually planning this winter's Polar Plunge on Muskegon Lake when the van went into the water.
