GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Mich (Grand Haven Tribune/WZZM) -- A Grand Haven Township gun range that was shut down after bullets hit nearby homes is one step closer to reopening.

The board president of the North Ottawa Gun and Rod Club says they will present proposed safety changes to the township board soon.

Construction crews were moving dirt to create higher barriers along the ranges this week. Our partner, the Grand Haven Tribune, is reporting the club is considering a deflection system.

The range was shut down in September of last year after more than a dozen Cutter Park Homes suffered bullet damage. A contractor also suffered a gunshot wound to his arm while working in the neighborhood.
