Cascade, MI (WZZM) - West Michigan may not be the fashion capitol of the world, but there are plenty of creative and cutting edge minds that love to share their talents.
Photographer Alessandra Myers, stylist Blair Badge, make-up artists Tysi Williams and Marco Kozar and hair stylist Consing Tompkins all come together to design and photograph their own concepts for their blog, mode-collective.com.
They gave us a behind the scenes look at one of their shoots this week at A K Rikks in Cascade.
Blair Badge said, "We're just a group of girls that love fashion, love to see fashion grow in west Michigan. So, it's basically kind of our creative playground where we get to have fun and explore some different concepts."
It takes over two hours for the hair, make-up and outfits to come together for 15 minutes of photos, of which only a few will make the final cut.
Blair explains that confidence can pull almost any look together.
"I think it's okay for you to pair something that might be a little bit unconventional because it's kind of, in a way, expressing yourself without actually having to say it," says Badge. "So, if you're a little more eccentric, pairing patterns and textures together is completely fine nowadays because I think more and more, especially in Grand Rapids, there's more of a wave of on-trend fashion coming to this area. And I think it's okay. Like, we can do some things that are a little more out of the box even though this is conservative west Michigan."
