NEWAYGO, Mich. (WZZM) -- Today is December 12, 2012, or 12-12-12 -- the last time we'll see repeating numbers like that this century.
People all over the country are taking advantage of the special date -- from weddings to birthdays to births.
For Dawn Marie Rosel of Newaygo, the day represents hope and happiness. She's getting ready to marry her love, Scott Bush, and her mother is there for the ceremony.
"My mom has been battling cancer for a year and she's doing fantastic right now," says Rosel, "but I wanted her to be okay when I got married."
The wedding was moved up from September 2013 to 12-12-12. The plan was to be pronounced husband and wife at 12:12 p.m.
The date of 12-12-12 is thought to be a "lucky" one.
Brian Byers is celebrating his birthday. He was born at 12:12 a.m., December 12, 1967, at Hackley Hospital in Muskegon. He says his mom remembers it well.
"She remembers the doctor saying, 'Wow, this has never happened to me in my life'," says Byers. "That was in response to him recording the birth as being 12-12, at 12 minutes after 12."
Back in Newaygo, the time has arrived. At 12:12 p.m, Rosel and Bush are pronounced husband and wife. Hopefully 12-12-12 brings them -- and Dawn's mom -- good luck.
