UPDATE AT 9:15 P.M. (WZZM) -- Police believe they have caught their suspect in a bank robbery on Grand Rapids' west side.
The man was taken into custody around 8:15 p.m. Thursday near West Fulton Street and Watson Avenue SW. Officers also recovered a weapon near a liquor store on Fulton.
The name of the suspect is not being released until he is arraigned in Grand Rapids District Court.
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Grand Rapids Police are looking for the person responsible for robbing a northwest side bank.
The call came out around 12:30pm at the Fifth Third Bank in the 700 block of Bridge Street NW.
Witnesses tell police that the suspect entered the bank, produced a note demanding money, and then fled on foot after receiving an undisclosed amount of money.
Police used a canine track to try and find the suspect, but the track was unsuccessful.
Witnesses describe the suspect as an unknown male, 5'1"-5'5" slim build, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a black hooded sweatshirt underneath, blue jeans and black shoes. Surveillance photos are attached to this story.
