(WZZM) - Here's some news for post-menopausal women who are breast cancer survivors.

Researchers at the Women's College Research Institute in Toronto took a look at more than 25,000 breast cancer survivors and 125,000 women without breast cancer all over the age of 55.

What they found was that breast cancer survivors who had undergone chemotherapy had a 24% higher rate of diabetes in the first two years after their cancer treatment than women who didn't have breast cancer.

The study suggests that chemotherapy may bring diabetes on sooner for women who are at risk of developing it.
