(WZZM) - The most damaging effect of mental illness is the unwillingness of people to seek help because of the stigma society has placed on it.

If caught early, especially in children, it can help prevent so many difficulties including suicide.

Christy Buck with the Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan talks about the signs of depression, the link between stress and mental illness, and the active role you shouldn't be afraid to play if you see someone who may need help.
