Missing Newaygo County man found safe

UPDATE AT 9:45 P.M. (WZZM) -- Police say a Newaygo County man has been found safe three days after disappearing.

Mervin Newville, 81, was last seen on Christmas Eve.  On Thursday, the Bitely man flagged down a passing snowmobiler in northern Newaygo County for help.  The snowmobile operator called 911.

Newville was transported by ambulance to Reed City Hospital, but investigators are not providing informartion on his condition.

Newaygo County deputies are not releasing information on what happened to Newville between the time he left home on Christmas Eve and his safe recovery Thursday.

BIG RAPIDS, Mich (WZZM) -- The Newaygo County Sherrif's department is looking for 81-year-old Mervin Newville from Bitely. Newville has Alzheimer's. He was last seen on Christmas Eve.

It is believed Newville was on his way to the Big Rapids area on December 24th and he failed to return home. He was driving a burgundy 1992 Buick station wagon. The car has woodgrain side panels.
