Betten Chevrolet Cadillac now has Honda & Hyundai dealerships, and soon will add a used car lot.
MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) - The sales staff at Betten Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC in Muskegon have seen a change in car shoppers this year. Blake Born General Sales Manager says customers are no longer just "kicking the tires."
The dealership has increased sales numbers every year since 2008. Born says this year new car sales accelerated. "The economy is starting to change... it is getting better," says Born.
And that's the case at dealerships across the country. U.S. auto sales for 2012 are expected to finish around 14.5 million. That's 13 percent higher then 2011, and would make it the best year for the industry since 2007.
Retired GM worker Jim Hart, who was at Betten for service and to look for a new car, is excited about the rebound. "I think it is about high time."
The last day of the year is often a busy time for dealerships. Customers often want to take advantage of rebates, and incentives that might not be available in the new year.
Ann Selbig purchased a new Chevy Traverse Monday. She says her family is about to get larger with the anticipated arrival of a new grandchild, and she needs a larger car. "It is the end of the year and I can use the taxes on my state income taxes."
