GREENVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) - The lack of snow is taking a toll on many seasonal businesses -- but a snowmobile dealer in Montcalm County says his sales are doing fairly well.
Nelson's Speed Shop began selling snowmobiles four decades ago. Although the business has been destroyed twice by fires, it's rebounding, thanks in part to sales that start in August.
Jack Nelson, the shop's owner says the dry winter will hurt mid-grade model sales, but top-of-the-line snowmobiles are already paid for, and on the trails.
"The real enthusiasts are the guys that come out and buy early. You know the models are limited on certain high performance machines and so those guys are enthusiasts and they're going to come out and buy no matter what, banking on they're going to drive north to the snow wherever it is in the UP or where ever they need to go," said Nelson.
Nelson hopes to open his new showroom by early March.
