GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Grand Rapids Police have arrested a man in connection with a sexual assault that happened early Thursday morning.

Police were called to an area near I-196 and the East Beltline at about 1:30am Thursday after a 22-year-old woman flagged down a Kent County Sheriff's Deputy.  The woman told police she had been downtown during the evening but became separated from her friends.  A man offered her a ride home and headed onto eastbound I-196 as the woman directed.  He pulled the car over on the highway near Maryland Ave. and sexually assaulted her.

Police were able to identify a suspect and arrested Carlos Alberto Reyes-Velazquez, 19, Thursday afternoon at a house on Eureka Ave. SE.  He has been charged with CSC 1st degree and Unarmed Robbery.

Anyone with further information is asked to call police at 456-3604 or Silent Observer 774-2345.
