ADA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- "The last word in dust collection" is how the Waltz Holst Company brands itself.
This 50 person company that makes dust collection and industrial fan equipment is celebrating it's 80th anniversary this year. President Karl Paganelli is proud to be making his huge metal products in Michigan.
"It's not something that can come here from China, which is a good thing," said Paganelli. "They're big and complicated, and heavy industry needs them."
The Waltz Holst Blow Pipe Company is a sheet metal job shop specializing in dust collection systems and equipment for the wood, foundry and office furniture industry -- or any company with a process that puts contaminants into the air.
The huge dust collectors found outside the Steelcase wood plant or the Betz Foundry are from Waltz Holst.
Workers are members of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. One of them is Ray Denton.
"Anytime you get a job to stay in the states or Michigan, it's a good thing," Denton told WZZM 13's Peter Ross on Friday.
Paganelli said 2012 was the company's best year. He's hopeful 2013 will be even better.
