UPDATE 2 P.M. FRIDAY (WZZM) - The child struck by a car Thursday night in Grand Rapids has died.
Grand Rapids Police say that George Albert Garcia died Friday morning.
The crash is still under investigation.
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- A six-year-old boy is in critical condition at a Grand Rapids hospital after he was hit by a car while crossing a road.
It happened around 6 p.m. on Bristol Avenue near Dunlop Street NW.
Police say the boy was crossing Bristol when he was hit by a northbound car.
The child was taken to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Police are still investigating the accident, though they say alcohol was not a factor.
Investigators are also seeking anyone who may have witnessed the accident. They are asked to call the Grand Rapids Police Department's Special Services Unit at (616) 456-3322.
