GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Grand Rapids Police are investigating an attempted abduction in the Alger Heights neighborhood.
Police say that an 11-year-old girl was walking home alone Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Hazen Street SE, when an unknown man grabbed her and tried to drag her toward a truck. She was able to break free, run to a safe place and call police. She told authorities that she had never seen the suspect before.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his 30s, about 5'10" tall, skinny, with brown or red sideburns that were sticking out of his hat. He was wearing a red winter hat with a bill that had an Arizona Cardinal logo. He was also wearing a black "bubble coat." The girl described the suspect's finger nails as being chewed short and he had a tattoo of a guitar on one of his hands.
The girl described his vehicle as a dark blue, newer and clean Dodge Ram regular cab truck.
