MT. PLEASANT, Mich. (WZZM) - The Mid Michigan man accused of abducting and raping a Central Michigan University student had a criminal history. Eric Ramsey, 30, graduated from Sheperd High School, just a few miles south of Mt. Pleasant.
Ramsey was on parole following his conviction in 2007 in Isabella County on multiple assault charges as well as resisting arrest and damaging police property. He served prison time for that offense. Ramsey was also convicted of felonious assault in 2006 in Gratiot County.
Shortly before he was shot and killed, Eric Ramsey said goodbye on Facebook. A message posted from his phone around 4 a.m. Thursday, read ""well folkes, im about to get shot. Peace."
WZZM 13 spoke with Tiffany Raymon, who graduated from high school with Ramsey. By a strange coincidence, she lived in the home where Ramsey's rape victim escaped to.
"I spoke to another friend and they said he just thought he was ready for it to be over, he knew this was going to be it," said Raymon.
Raymon said she cannot believe that the Eric Ramsey she knew from high school would be capable of doing what he's accused of.
