GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Religious and community leaders will meet this morning to discuss ways to stop the violence in West Michigan.
Nine people have been murdered in the Grand Rapids area in December of January, along with numerous shootings and other acts of violence.
A group of religious leaders is holding the meeting at 8 a.m. at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church at 513 Henry Avenue SE in Grand Rapids, to try to stop the violence.
Organizers are particularly encouraging people to attend who are part of organizations that work to curb violence in the community.
Participants are being asked to fill out a Community Organization Survey that includes information about the organization and contact information. That form will be available at the meeting, and it is also attached to this web story for your convenience.
One goal of the event is to learn what options are available to fight violence and how the current groups can work together.
