FREMONT, Mich. (WZZM) - Dozens of Newaygo County workers will lose their jobs as Gerber moves some of its production out of state.

A company spokeswoman says 44 hourly employees are being laid off, as Gerber moves its infant cereal production to Arkansas.

Gerber warned workers about the changes back in 2010, when it announced it was expanding the plant in Fort Smith.

The layoffs will take place February 4, but the company says it is creating a new line in Fremont that same year and it hopes to hire back all the workers then.
