GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)-Utility crews are working to restore power for thousands of customers across West Michigan.
The strong winds overnight brought downed power lines and trees, which caused trouble for crews throughout the early morning hours.
A Consumers Energy spokesman says as of late Sunday morning, approximately 22,500 customers were without power. 4,174 customers are without power in Kent County; 326 without power in Ottawa County; 1,020 without power in Allegan County; and 2,152 without power in Muskegon County.
From late Saturday into early Sunday, some 74,800 Consumers Energy customers were affected by weather related outages.
Crews ask that customers report all incidents of downed power lines, and to stay clear of them.
