GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- Due to several accidents along I-96 and I-196, Grand Rapids Police want drivers to stay off those highways, if at all possible.
Because of the crashes, many areas are down to one lane or at a standstill on the highways, with the worst issues toward the center of the city.
Police say it is glare ice, which is difficult to see. They said the temperatures are also too low to be affected by what road crews are putting on it. If you cannot avoid going on the highway, police ask that you go very slowly.
