GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- Circle Theatre is celebrating its 17th year of its "Circle Presents" program offering live entertainment to a young audience.

The George Washington Follies is one of the handful of performances taking to stage in the"Circle Presents" program.

Professional theatre companies are brought in to the Gerald R. Ford Museum and other high schools. The goal is to give children a chance to watch art in action and provide a unique educational experience.

Circle Theatre provides programming, ticket sales, as well as lesson plans. Barry Blomquist is the principal at Our Savior Lutheran School and says his students and teachers find attending performances to be beneficial.

"We can put it into our curriculum and then the kids enjoy it and we bring it back to the classroom and talk about the play. This one is about George Washington and the history so that will go to our social studies."

Lynne Brown-Tepper, Managing Director at Circle Theatre, adds "We've really dedicated ourselves to this program especially with all the arts programs being cut particularly in the Grand Rapids Public Schools. So, even if its break even or we do lose money on the program we are really dedicated to keeping this available as a learning tool for students and teachers."

Circle Theatre serves several counties. Click HERE for more information.
