GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The man responsible for the finances of a grocery store chain has been charged with stealing over $6 million over the past eight years.
Christopher Pratt was charged Friday in Federal Court for defrauding Village Market Food Centers of over $6 million from 2004 until 2012. Pratt had been the Comptroller of the company.
The U.S. District Attorney alleges that Pratt diverted the funds from Village Market accounts to pay his own personal credit card bills and that he used the money primarily to finance a fleet of muscle cars.
If convicted, Pratt could serve up to 20 years in prison.
