GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Grand Rapids Public Schools is expanding its summer food program thanks to a federal grant.

The program created to provide low income families nutritious food for their children during the summer is expanding to include students in Kentwood.

During the summer of 2012, 5,000 students received either $30 or $60 on a debit card per month that allowed them to buy certain foods.  The number of students picked by a random lottery is expected to increase this summer.

Students need to be eligible for free or reduced lunches at school and have their parents fill out a consent form to be eligible for this years lottery.
