GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - An exhibit with more than 150 artifacts from the Titanic opened to the public Saturday in Grand Rapids.

The Grand Rapids Public Museum will host "Titanic: the Artifact Exhibition" through July.

The exhibit is expected to attract visitors from across the state, as well as Indiana and Illinois.

One woman celebrated her birthday Saturday by dressing in period costume before visiting the exhibit with friends.

"It was very moving and touching," said Jodi Hanson, while wearing a Victorian dress and hat. "It really made you feel like you were a part of the exhibit."

A museum spokesperson says the popularity of this traveling exhibit can't be matched.

"Titanic artifact exhibition is the most popular traveling exhibition of its time," said Kate Moore, Grand Rapids Public Museum Marketing Director. "25-million people have seen the exhibition worldwide."
